About Signal Hill
A walkable heritage and nature attraction connecting Kota Kinabalu’s most iconic hilltop landmarks
About Signal Hill
Signal Hill is one of Kota Kinabalu’s most significant hilltop areas, recognised for its long-standing role in the city’s history and its elevated views over the urban centre and coastline. Originally used as a strategic lookout point during the early development of Kota Kinabalu, the area has remained an important landmark as the city evolved around it.
Today, Signal hill has been newly reimagined as a connected heritage and nature attraction that brings together three closely linked sites: the Atkinson Clock Tower, the Signal Hill Trail and the Signal Hill Observatory Tower. Designed as a walkable hilltop experience, the area allows visitors to explore the city's colonial-era past, move through forested surroundings, and enjoy panoramic views of Kota Kinabalu within a compact and accessible setting.

Management & Stewardship
The Signal Hill Area is managed with an emphasis on visitor safety, heritage awareness, and responsible access to the natural environment. Management efforts focus on maintaining clear visitor flow, preserving the character of the site, and supporting a positive experience for both locals and visitors, in line with guidelines set by the relevant authorities.
